Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, arrived here on Wednesday for an official good-will visit to Ghana.

In a written statement delivered upon arrival at the airport, Jia said Ghana was among the first sub-Saharan African countries to establish the diplomatic ties with China.

In recent years, Jia said, China and Ghana have enhanced political mutual trust, conducted fruitful cooperation in various fields and enjoyed mutual supports and consultation in international affairs.

He said the Chinese-Ghanaian traditional friendship is full of vitality and he looks forward to meeting with Ghanaian leaders for an in-depth exchange of views on the Chinese-Ghanaian relations and issues of mutual interest.

Jia said he is confident that this visit will further advance bilateral traditional friendship, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, build on the success of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and enhance exchanges and cooperation between the CPPCC National Committee and the government and parliament of Ghana.

China will continue to work with Ghana to further grow bilateral friendship and cooperation, noted Jia.

Ghana is the second leg of Jia's visit to four African countries, which has already taken him to Tunisia and will also take him to Zimbabwe and Kenya.
