The year 2006 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and African countries. The Beijing Summit & Third Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held from November 3 to 5. To celebrate this grand event, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China will hold the "African Goods Exhibition" in the Beijing International Convention Center from November 6 to 7 to step up China-Africa economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.

Covering an area of about 3,500 square meters, the exhibition aims at enhancing the exchanges and cooperation between businesses of Africa and China and helping the African businesses understand and explore the Chinese market. More than 100 businesses from over 20 African countries including Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia attended the exhibition. The traditional and unique products from various African countries, covering construction materials, paper pulp, wood, light industry and handicraft, food and farm products, will be displayed.

To attract more African businesses and raise the efficiency of the exhibition, the Chinese government will offer a number of favorable measures to the participating African countries, such as charging no booth fees and helping participating African businesses promote their products. In addition to publicity on newspapers and trade magazines, the exhibition will invite such special buyers as large Chinese commercial and trade companies, franchised supermarkets, importers and traders.

China and Africa enjoy great complementarities and huge potential of economic and trade cooperation. The will further expand China's imports from Africa and boost the healthy and stable growth of the economic and trade relations between China and African countries.
