Tuesday,November 07,2006 Posted: 01:14 BJT(1714 GMT)  xinhuanet

The China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce will be formally set up on Sunday, said Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Wan Jifei.

Wan made the announcement together with Mohamed El Masry, head of the Union of African Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, and Professions (UACCIAP), during the meeting of the High-level Dialogue and 2nd Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs, which was held on Saturday afternoon.

The China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce, which is jointly established by the CCPIT and UACCIAP, is aimed at developing cooperation between business circles of China and Africa.

The proposal to set up such a chamber was raised in the first ministerial conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2000. The UACCIAP was established in Cairo, Egypt, in April 2005.
